New Online Targeting Finds Attentive Audiences for Advertisers
“Attention Targeting” increases ad exposure time for
greater message awareness and brand lift

New York, NY - August 30, 2007 - The Fifth Network, Inc. has released a new method of targeting online ads called “Attention-Targeting,” which enables advertisers to increase the brand exposure time of their ads.

This new targeting technology, which focuses on time-spent-with-brand comes on the heels of Nielsen’s initiative to rank publishers by time-spent-on-site, and follows results from an Online Publishers Association (OPA) study showing that users now spend the majority of their time online ingesting content.

“Longer exposure time, as touched upon by the OPA in their report on video advertising and consumer behavior, and ATLAS in their recent Digital Marketing Insights report, is linked to greater brand awareness and improved brand lift,” said Bill Caspare, President and CEO of The Fifth Network.

Predictive Technology™ is the brand name of the Attention-Targeting solution developed by The Fifth Network, Inc. It has already proven to capture exposure time for ads up to 300% longer than what premium placed inventory achieves on its own.

The technology utilizes Google-like web spiders to crawl publisher sites and read, analyze and log each page in real time. The length of exposure that users are likely to experience on each URL is predicted by the company’s technology and based on a number of page parameters including the type of content, context of the content, number of words on the page, functionalities of the page and any applications or metadata embedded in each URL.

When a publisher tries to serve an advertiser’s creative, The Fifth Network’s Predictive Technology™ decides on the fly whether the placement will garner above-average exposure time. The company’s reporting is able to show advertisers exact URLs where their ads appeared.

“Clicks don’t tell the whole story,” continued Mr. Caspare, “An ad that cuts through the clutter and spends a few minutes with a user presents a better ROI than an ad that returns the same click and interaction rate but spends a quarter as much time in front of a user. Attention Targeting is a very smart play for Advertisers if they’re branding and still want the clicks and interactions.”

While Predictive TechnologyTM is currently exclusive to The Fifth Network, the company plans to license it to publishers and networks in the near future. The technology can be coupled with other targeting technologies such as contextual and behavioral targeting for even greater impact.

“We’re not just helping advertisers put their message in front of the right people,” continued Caspare, “we’re helping them keep their brand there longer.”
